These appetizers are easy and simple to make, and by baking them you can really cut out a lot of fat and calories. Here are two simple, but elegant ideas to get you started.

Homemade Seasoned Chips With Your Favorite Dip

These easy to make and great tasting chips make the perfect appetizers for those Sunday Afternoon football games, poker night, or even for that elegant dinner party. Served with a bit of Salsa or low fat spinach and articoke dip, or even low fat ranch dip these chips are always a huge hit.

Wonton Appetizers Low Fat Low Sugar:


・ 20 wonton skins

・ 2 teaspoons of water

・ 2 teaspoons of olive oil

・ 1 teaspoon dried Italian Seasoning

・ 1/2 teaspoon paprika

・ 1/8 teaspoon garlic

・ 2 teaspoon Parmesan cheese (low fat)

・ Olive oil cooking spray

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly spray a flat baking sheet with olive oil spray. Next cut the skins in half diagonally and lay them on the cooking sheet. Mix all of the rest of the ingredients except for the Parmesan cheese together in a small mixing bowl and then using a pastry brush coat each chip lightly with the seasoning mix. Spring on the Parmesan cheese and bake in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 5 to 7 minutes or until golden brown.

To serve place a small container of dip in the center of your serving tray and place the chips around the outside of the dip container. This recipe makes 40 chips but, it is easy to double or triple the recipe.

For More Filling Appetizers

For those of you who want to make more filling and interesting Hors d'oeuvres then try using chicken or shrimp (or even pork) a few interesting vegetables diced small or run through a food processor and cooked together with your favorite seasoning.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, lighting spray a baking sheet and lay a whole wonton on the baking sheet and put about 1 tablespoon of your cooked (and cooled) filling on the skin. Lightly dampen the edges and then lay a second skin over the top sealing the edges together.

Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 or 15 minutes until golden brown turning half way through to ensure that both sides brown nicely.

Using these two simple starter recipes, you can be on your way to making stunning low fat, low sugar and low sodium Hors d'oeuvres that your family and guests will love!
