Granular Fructose Instead Of Artificial Sweeteners

The reason for this is that artificial sweeteners has been known to cause health problems in some people particularly children while granular fructose is a natural by products of fruits and honey. It is recommended for those on a diabetic diet and has a wonderful taste though somewhat less sweet than natural sugar. However, keep in mind that it may be impossible to avoid artificial sweeteners all together.
The following recipe for Sugar Free pecan pie does contain some artificial sweeteners in the pudding mix itself, but, by using the Granular fructose as the main sweetener the use of the artificial sweeterners are minimized.

This pecan pie comes out tasting very rich so limit serving sizes to about ½ the normal slice of pie. While you can serve this pie with a no fat whipped topping it tastes great just the way it is.
Note: While this recipe is Sugar Free for those who need to limit their sugar intake if you are choosing to limit the amount of sugar as a reduction in calories you may want to use a regular vanilla pudding instead of the Sugar Free to avoid the use of artificial sweeteners. However, remember that using pudding with the regular sugar content will make this very rich dessert even sweeter and it may prove to be too sweet for some palates.
