The only problem is that many people have a perception that eating in a healthy way has to be boring, and that it means that they cannot enjoy those same treats that they used to enjoy when they were eating all those heavily sugared desserts.
Luckily, that perception is not accurate, and if you work with food and modify just a few things then it is perfectly possible to end up with food that not only tastes great, but which also does you a whole lot of good!
Many recipes that you will find that are vaunted around on the internet are for main meals that involve meats and fish. And whilst these are tasty, they are not the delicious, sugary treats that you are really craving!
So, in this article I would like to share my recipe for a Sugar Free Blueberry Treat that you can create with a minimum of ingredients and very little skill in the cooking arts.
I hope that once you have mastered this recipe that you will feel compelled to try some of my other recipes, and get hooked on cooking, just like me!
To get started you need to make a special trip to your local large supermarket to check out what is available in the way of substitutes for sugar that we can use in the recipe.
This is the only slightly fiddly part of the operation, because even a Sugar Free Blueberry Treat needs to actually taste sweet! And so in a certain sense we do have to come up with ways of bluffing our senses into believing we are consuming some incredibly fattening, sweet, yummy, but bad for us desert; even though it is actually relatively low in calories and packed out with nutritional benefits!
Try to find a substitute that mimics the way that normal sugar pours and looks, so that you can use identical quantities in our recipe.
Sugar Free Blueberry Treat:
Here are the ingredients that need to be stirred together evenly:
1 and a quarter cups of the ‘fake’ low-calorie sugar substitute
2 and a half cups of an all-purpose type flour
1 and half teaspoons of baking soda
A pinch of cinnamon
A pinch of salt
2 teaspoons of corn starch
1 and a half cups of butter
Mix all the ingredients together and then take roughly 2/3rds of the mix and spread evenly over the bottom of a 9 by 13 inch baking tray.
Add in 3 cups of fresh blueberries over the top spreading evenly throughout, and then crumble over the remaining third of the original mixture over the top of the blackberries.
You should then bake in a pre-heated oven at a temperature of 360 degrees Fahrenheit for about 50 minutes, checking occasionally to check it is cooking, and wait until the mixture is cooked through.
Serve the Sugar Free Blueberry Treats when piping hot and enjoy!
