Predictions For 2012 And The End Of The World
There have been various people who make Predictions. Some like psychics who predict events that are supposed to occur in an individual's future. Some that predict future trends or events that are likely or even unlikely to occur. While some Predictions that are based on scientific or other evidence such as predicting hurricanes or earthquakes are often correct. Others are far fetched and are either based on misinterpretations, pure conjecture, or simply a gut feeling.
The thing about foretelling the future is that when people tend to make events fit what is foretold. For example in the case of that physic who may tell someone they are going to meet a tall dark stranger and marry within 6 months. They are simply telling a person what they think they want to hear. When that person meets a medium height blonde, falls in love and marries a year later they believe that the physic could actually predict the future because she fell in love. The person forgets that hair color, the height, and the time of the marriage were all off.
This is true of all types of people, and all the different things that are foretold. People make what is predicted fit the events and forget those parts that do not fit. The problem is that most of the people foretelling future events use either a scatter gun or vague statements often based on misinterpretations or pure conjecture to predict future events. Those who do make definite statements are more often than not shown to be wrong. So let's take a look at what all these 2012 Predictions are based on.
The Mayan Calendar predicts the end of the world.
Just because the Mayan long calendar ends on December 21st 2012 doesn't mean the world is going to end with it. In fact, professional Mayan scholars state that there is nothing that suggests that the Mayans predicted or expected any impending doom and gloom in any of their accounts.
People point to all of the things that Nostradamus predicted that have already come true as proof that he has has foretold the end of the world in 2012. First of all, Nostradamus prophecies have all been written in Quatrains which are hard to decipher. It has only been after an event has occurred that people have gone back to his writing which they did not understand what it meant and suddenly decided that the event that occurred was one he predicted.
The Web Bot
The web bot is one of the most interesting of all the fore tellers of future events. It is a software program that was designed to pick up and download chatter on the internet and then predict stock market movements based on this chatter. In June of 2001 it predicted an event that would effect the entire world would occur withing 30 to 90 days and on September 11, 2001 the twin towers came tumbling down. Now the web bot is reporting another cataclysmic event will occur in 2012 and there are those that believe that the bot is predicting the end of the world.
What makes this so interesting is while it is entirely possible that the web bot may have picked some type of chatter about the bombings or even unrest in other countries on which it based it's foretelling of the events of 2001 and it is unlikely that it is going to pick up chatter about hurricanes or other natural disasters. However, it may be combining all the doomsday reports that have been spreading across the web and reporting the upcoming calamity based on these reports and theories.
What is truly amazing is that no one wants to believe those that are predicting that the economy will show signs of improvement next year but, there are thousands of people who are ready to believe that people can really predict the end of the world.
