Low Fat Pear Pie Recipe:


9 inch pie shell (double shell)

½ cup white sugar plus an additional Tablespoon or two separate

3 T corn starch or flour

1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

5 cups peeled and sliced pears

1 T lemon juice

2 T 1% milk

Pear Pie Recipe:


Preheat Oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit

Combine ½ cup sugar, cornstarch (or flour), cinnamon and salt in a mixing bowl.

Arrange pears in layers in the bottom piecrust and sprinkle sugar mixture over each layer.

Roll out top crust and cut slits to allow steam to escape.

Moisten rim of bottom crust and place top crust over filling.

Fold edge of top crust under bottom crust and press to seal

Flute edges

With a bakery brush, brush 1% milk over top crust and sprinkle with a little sugar

Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes then reduce heat to 350 degrees and continue baking for another 30 to 40 minutes or until done.

Additional Options

For a lighter dessert with less fat, you can make this a crust-less pie. You can also add raisins, cranberries and other fruit for a slightly different taste or even some walnuts. This pie is so versatile that it is simple to make small changes and create an entirely different taste.
