Everyone knows that in order to eat healthy your diet needs to consist of a variety of fruits and vegetables. Many people find it especially hard to include enough fruit in their diet.

When you stop to think this should not be the case as fruit makes a great addition to any meal any time of the day and can even be eaten as a healthy snack or used as a sweet dessert for after dinner.

Pears are a wonderful fruit to add to your diet. They are high in fiber, contain B12, C and E as well as copper and potassium all of which your body needs to grow strong and healthy.

There are a number of pear desserts that you can serve your family and to start you out here are two simple ones that you can make in minutes and your family is sure to love. Both these recipes call for canned pear halves saving you time peeling and coring pears to be used in these desserts.

Strawberry Almond Stuffed Pears Low Sugar Low Fat:

If you are looking for a simple tasty yet, elegant cold dessert these strawberry almond stuffed pears will give you just what you are looking for. These pears look especially elegant when served on a leaf of fresh lettuce or kale with an orange slice twisted for decoration. It is one of the fastest and tastiest fruit desserts you can make.

Ingredients

One large can of pair halves drained (should make 5 to 6 servings)

6 ounces of soft strawberry low fat cream cheese

*

1-two ounce package of almonds ground.

*

Fresh loose leaf lettuce or kale

*

1 fresh orange sliced and each slice cut in half

Directions:

After draining pears turn so that the indented side is up on dessert plates lined with loose leaf lettuce or kale. Take the strawberry cream cheese and mix in almonds.

Then take this mixture and spoon inside the indent of each pear. Take two ½ slices of orange twist and hold with a tooth pick and place on either side of the pear. Refrigerator until ready to serve.

Should make 6 to 8 servings.

Cinnamon Raisin Pears Low Sugar Low Fat:

This is an easy pear dessert than can be served slightly warm or cold.

Ingredients:

2 large cans of pears canned in light syrup

1 tablespoon cinnamon

2 Tablespoons raisins

Directions:

In a medium size sauce pan combine the juice from the canned pears, cinnamon and raisin heat until the liquid is hot. Gently add pears and warm through allowing the pears to soak up some of the cinnamon taste.

Spoon pear halves and raisins into dessert dishes 2 pear halves per dish. Spoon a small amount of juice into each dessert dish. Allow to cool slightly or chill whichever you prefer. Serve as is or top with non fat whipped topping.
