No Bake Cookies Recipe

No Bake Cookies Recipe Healthy low fat no bake cookies recipe If you're watching your weight (or are at a healthy weight and want to stay there), you may think you have to give up all sorts of delicious food to be "good" -- but in fact, you'd be wrong.

It's true that you can't simply plop down with a bag of potato chips or package of Snickers bars and have at it, but you can find delicious ways to include favorite flavors and foods in what you eat on a daily basis so that you'll miss the junk food much less than you normally might.

In fact, there are lots of great ways you can include healthy variations of your favorite foods in your daily diet, so that you don't feel deprived even though you're eating healthily. Let's take a look at one way to do this.

Chocolate and oatmeal: A winning combination

Two of the foods you should include in your diet (assuming you're not allergic to them) are chocolate (in moderation) and old-fashioned rolled oats. ("Quick" oats are really like white rice or white bread, in that they're much more refined and much more likely to make your blood sugar spike, so stick with the old-fashioned slow-cook kind.)

That's because chocolate contains "feel-good" chemicals that keep you feeling fine and satisfied, and it's full of antioxidants and some heart healthy fats, to boot.

Rolled oats are a winner because they are complex carbohydrates that contain full fiber grain. They are low in calories and will satisfy you and keep you full for hours. Oatmeal also helps lower cholesterol, which is a bonus if you are one of those folks who need to watch your numbers there. In addition, fiber helps "move your digestive system along," keeping you regular, too.

The good news is, you can do all of this with a good tasting cookies recipe -- one that contains both chocolate and oatmeal, together. One of the best things about this recipe is that they are no bake, too, so they're easy to make. Therefore, even if you consider yourself to be all thumbs in the kitchen, try these easy cookies for a guilt free nosh:

What you'll need:

* 1-1/2 cups rolled oats (old-fashioned oatmeal) * 2-ounces fat-free milk * Half a teaspoon of salt * A teaspoon of vanilla * A half a cup to a cup of sucralose (Splenda) * Two tablespoons of canola or olive oil * Four tablespoons of cocoa (the most chocolaty, in my opinion, is dutch cocoa)

In a saucepan, combine salt, sucralose, oil, milk and cocoa. (Use enough sucralose to make the cookies sweet enough to your taste without being too sweet.) Bring to a boil and boil for three minutes, stirring all the while. Remove from stove, stir vanilla and oatmeal into the liquid mixture, and then drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet with wax paper. The recipe should make about 24 cookies, and they're ready to eat when they've cooled and hardened.
