Low Sugar Apple Dessert:

Ingredients8-10 medium-sized apples (6-8 cups sliced apples) can use Gala, Rome Beauty or Granny Smith1/3 cup Splenda

1/4 cup of apple juice or real apple cider

1 teaspoon apple pie spice

½ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (optional)2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

For the topping

1/3 cup of plain oatmeal-right out of the container (Quaker anyone?)

¼ cup of flour can use any variety, even almond flour, plain or wheat

¼ cup Splenda

1 teaspoon apple pie spice

1 ½ tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

1 Tablespoon of vanilla extract

Low Sugar Apple Dessert:

Make sure you preheat the kitchen oven to 400F

Use a baking dish to hold the apple crisp mixture, but first you should lightly coat the dish with a bit of PAM or Crisco baking spray.

Gather all of the ingredients that you need to create the topping:With a blender, food processor or a mixer you should now combine the Splenda, rolled oats and almond flour.

Add the EVOO and vanilla extract to these dry ingredients.

Combine all ingredients once again with a spoon.

Gather all of the ingredients for the apple crisp:

Wash, peel and core the apples.

Slice the apples.

Mix the Splenda, cinnamon, apple pie spice and nutmeg together. Make sure that the apples and spices are well combined for the best flavor.

Arrange the spiced apple slices in the baking dish and then add the crumb topping. Make certain that you spread the topping out so that the dessert will bake evenly, and this will also result in a more elegant presentation.

Let the apple dessert bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown in color.
