grilled shrimp is a particular summertime favorite and can be grilled plain or with a number of marinades which makes it an always fresh and interesting meal. Here is a simple marinade recipe for grilled shrimp that tastes wonderful and will make you feel like you are on some tropical Island.

How To Cook Shrimp:

Tropical grilled shrimp

While this marinade recipe only takes a few minutes to make, for best results you will want to make it and marinate your shrimp at least two hours before grilling. However to get the most flavor you may want to allow your shrimp to sit in the marinade overnight.

Marinade Recipe

To make this tropical marinade you are going to want a large jar with a lid that tightly seals. Once all the ingredients are combined you will need to shake the jar well to make sure that all the seasonings and flavors are well mixed together.

How To Cook Shrimp:

Ingredients for Marinate

* ½ cup lime juice

* ½ cup lemon juice

* 3 Tablespoons honey

* 1 teaspoon paprika

* 1 teaspoon dried basil

* 1 teaspoon thyme

* 1 teaspoon crushed Rosemary

* ½ teaspoon celery seed

* 1 garlic clove finely minced

* 1 small onion finely minced

* 2 jalapenos finely minced (optional for those who like spicy shrimp)

Once all the ingredients are combined and shaken well set in the refrigerator while you prepare the shrimp.

Preparing the Shrimp

1 pound fresh or frozen raw shrimp peeled and de veined. If shrimp is frozen thaw completely and drain off all water and dry thoroughly with a paper towel before peeling and de veining. Once shrimp is ready place in a large zip lock baggy. Shake marinade once more and pour over shrimp making sure all is well mixed. Refrigerator overnight or for at least two hours turning periodically to make sure shrimp is well coated.

Preparing The Grill

Using tinfoil cover the grill rack. This will keep the shrimp from falling through the grids in the grill. Heat the grill to medium high or if using a charcoal grill until the coals are glowing and hot but, not flaming.

Drain shrimp and place on grill cooking for about 5 minutes on each side or until pink and opaque and heated all the way through. You can use a pastry brush to brush the shrimp with additional marinade while cooking if desired.

Served with a green salad and roll and butter.
