The fact is that there are many creative recipes out there these days that let you enjoy delicious appetizers that are as healthy for your body as they are for your soul. Now, if your taste buds and those of your typical friends and other guests have been conditioned to crave lots of saturated fat and sugar, these recipes might take a little bit of getting accustomed to.

But don’t worry, because they really are filling and great tasting and very soon you will love how you feel after eating them...and, you will wonder why you ever wanted all of those sugars and saturated fats in the first place.

Let’s take a look at a recipe for a low-fat, no-sugar classic barbecue appetizer: buffalo wings! Please note in the following recipe that in order to make sure you have enough to host a party, multiply all of the following ingredients as necessary. Assume that the following buffalo wings recipe is enough for two people.

Since these are appetizers and you are likely going to serve others in addition to the main course, it’s probably enough for three or four people, but you always want to be safe instead of embarrassed...and, whatever your guests don’t eat, you get to have for delicious leftovers the next day.

1 ½ pounds boneless or on-bone buffalo wings, unprepared¼ teaspoon minced garlic (the "squeeze" kind in bottle in most convenient), or as needed1 tablespoon olive oil1 teaspoon lemon pepper or citrus-based all-purpose seasoning1 teaspoon sea salt1 sprig rosemary per wing

How to Make Low-Fat, No-Sugar Buffalo Wings

Easy Party Barbecue Appetizer:

Preheat your oven to 350º F (175º C).

Season each wing entirely with garlic, pepper/seasoning, and salt. On a broiler-proof baking sheet, arrange the wings and rosemary sprigs so that none of the wings are touching each other. Drizzle the olive oil over each wing.

Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. Wing meat should no longer be pink at the bone; juices should be running clear. Wings will need to be turned once around the 20 minute mark. Use an instant-read thermometer to insert into the thickest part of one of the wings; at the time of removing from the wings from the oven it should read at least 160º F (70º C).

Remove baking sheet from the oven. Set Broiler setting on High. Remove rosemary from the sheet and set aside. Turn wings one more.

Easy Party Barbecue Appetizer:

Place baking sheet back into oven and broil the wings until they're golden brown. This will take only a few or several minutes. Garnish with the rosemary sprigs and they're ready to serve.
