A recipe that calls for milk as an ingredient can be tweaked so that it is more appropriate for a low fat diet. Just use skim, fat-free or 2% milk instead of whole milk.
Adding fresh berries to pies, puddings and breads will make the dish healthier and the berries give you an extra burst of bright, delicious flavors.
Easy Chocolate Pie Recipe Low Fat Sugar Free:
Extra easy chocolate and Strawberry Pudding Pie
* 2 cups low fat graham cracker crumbs (if you prepare your own cracker crumbs you will need about 16-18 graham crackers)
* 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
* 5 tablespoons of melted butter-low fat butter
* 2 small packages of instant sugar free pudding/pie filling-(sugar free-chocolate flavor)
* 1/3 cup sugar or sugar substitute(Splenda light brown) packed into the measuring cup
* 2 packages chocolate instant sugar free pudding and pie filling (4-serving size)
* 2 ¾ cups of 2% milk
Mix the cracker crumbs with the sugar sugar substitute and low fat butter.
Use your hands to create a pie crust by pressing the graham crumb mixture into a 9" pie pan.
Be sure that the crumbs are on the bottom and along all of the sides of the pie pan.
Bake this crust in a 350F oven for 5-7 minutes.
When pie crust is ready you can take it out of the oven and set it on a cookie rack (or trivet) so that it can cool properly.
While the pie crust is cooling you can begin to prepare the filling.
Wash and slice the fresh strawberries.
Mix the chocolate flavored pudding with the milk and stir for 2-3 minutes.
Add a layer of strawberries to the bottom of the pie crust.
Cover the berries with the chocolate pudding filling.
Arrange a few sliced strawberries on top of the filling for garnish.
**May use whole strawberries and some chocolate shavings as a garnish if desired.
Now you can place the pie in the refrigerator and let it cool for 45-90 minutes before you serve it to your guests.
