Wonderful low fat easy apple pie recipe with delicious low sugar ingredients.

In this day and age with everyone's life being so busy it is difficult enough to try and find time to make healthy meals that are low in fat. Thinking about trying to make a low fat baked dessert may seem overwhelming but, like everything else there are ways to cut corners, save time and still turn out incredibly great tasting baked desserts.

While some pies are difficult and time consuming to make, it is possible to make an apple pie in less than an hour from start to finish. To get you started you might want to try this Easy Apple Pie Recipe. It only takes a few minutes to put together and is low in fat. The baking time takes the longest at about 45 minutes.

Easy As Pie Apple Pie

Low Fat Low Sugar Ingredients:

1-9 inch reduced graham cracker crust

1-21 ounce can of apple pie filling

¾ cups flour

¼ cup granulated sugar or sugar substitute

¼ cup brown sugar

¼ cup apple sauce

1 teaspoon cinnamon

¼ cups raisins, walnuts or both optional

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Take the ¾ cup flour, both types of sugar and cinnamon and blend them together in a medium size mixing bowl. Add applesauce and mix. The mixture should be crumbly for on top of the pie.

Pour canned apple pie filling into the crust and using a spatula make sure that filling is distributed evenly in the crust.

Sprinkle topping mixture over the pie.

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until the topping is brown and the apple filling is bubbling. (about 40 or 45 minutes).

Cool and serve.

Alternate Version

For those of you who are looking for an even quicker method of making this Easy Apple Pie Recipe try forgetting the topping, heating the pie filling on the stove with a teaspoon of cinnamon then simply pouring it in the crust and refrigerating it for about 2 hours before serving. Top with non fat whipped topping and serve.

Notes:

Most people hesitate using graham cracker crusts for baking because they believe they will get soggy. However, baking experts insist that baking these crusts actually sets them up and they are great baked.

In the alternate version the bottom crust may get a little more soggy but, refrigeration should help this problem. By choosing a low fat graham cracker crust you are reducing the amount of fat in regular pie crusts. Canned apple topping has about 0.6 grams of fat per serving making it naturally low fat and by replacing the shortening or butter with applesauce in the crumb topping you are eliminating the fat normally found in the top crust.

What you end up with is a low fat pie that takes little prep time and tastes great.
