Low Fat Cinnamon coffee cake Recipe

This low fat cinnamon recipe is sure to please even the most hard to please member of your family or guest. While it can be enjoyed cold serving it hot from the oven will result in a tempting treat that simply melts in the mouth.

Ingredients

1 cup unsweetened applesauce

2 cups granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar

2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup egg beaters

3 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 cups fat free sour cream

3 Tablespoons ground cinnamon (fresh ground is best)

½ cup walnuts or almonds chopped fine

Low Fat Cinnamon coffee cake Recipe:

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan.

In a small bowl combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts and set aside.

In a slightly larger bowl combine flour, baking soda, and baking powder and set this aside.

In large mixing bowl mix applesauce and granulated sugar together beating well, add vanilla, and egg mixture 1/3 cup at a time. Beating between each addition.

Alternate small portions of the flour mixture and the sour cream again beating between each new addition to ensure that the mixture is smooth.

Spoon 1/3 of the mixture into your tube pan and then top sprinkle 1/3 of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the cake mixture. Repeat alternating batter and cinnamon and brown sugar mixture.

Bake in preheated over 60 to 70 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack until just barely warm before serving.

Makes 16 to 18 servings.

This cake tastes great when served with hot coffee, tea, or cocoa or a tall glass of cold milk. You can serve this cake for breakfast or as a snack. Due to the large number of servings this recipe makes it is a great choice for those church or office breakfast meetings and no one will ever guess that it is low fat.
